Recording Description:

On the CD, this recording has no title, just a date:  6-27-65.

So I listened to it and thought, "What title do I give this recording?  How do I classify it?  How do I describe it?"  And as I listened to it, I have to say with shame, that I haven't heard a sermon like this one in so many decades, that at first I didn't recognize the sermon topic and I was at a loss to know what to call this.

Then I realized,  "This is a sermon against sin."

     My God.

I haven't heard anyone preach against sin and warn Christians of the judgment of God for so long, that I couldn't even figure out what Brother Goodwin was talking about for awhile.

My brethren, this isn't a sermon that will tickle you, or flatter you--Dad never preached those kinds of sermons anyway.  You have to go to the false prophets to get woozed and smoozed and shamlessly flattered like that.  This sermon also isn't one about the glories of faith or the equipping of spiritual gifts.  It is a straight-forward sermon about sin and its consequences.  And my God, how we need it!  We have to preach the whole counsel of God.  And warning sinners (or even sinning saints) of the errors of sin is a part of the whole gospel of Jesus Christ.

I decided to leave the title as is:  6-27-1965, to show that warning against the dangers of sin is just a normal part of what we do.  No special title or explanation needed.
