Voices of the Faith Giants Podcast is a new outreach of Mel Montgomery Ministries. Frequently Asked Questions: What is a Podcast? A podcast is similar to a TV station or Cable TV network. Audios, videos, and writings are offered via the podcast channel. Interested people subscribe to the podcast or "feed" and the materials offered on that channel automatically download into the subscriber's computer each day and can also be easily uploaded into i-pods, i-phones, and other personal media devices. Podcasts are the cutting edge of today's media technology. What materials does Mel Montgomery Ministries offer via podcast? We are currently in the process of uploading all of our rare recordings, writings, e-books, audios, and videos. Plus we are starting something new and exciting beginning January 1, 2010--just a few weeks from now. How do people find out about new podcasts? Many times friends will suggest podcasts to other friends. However, on the internet there are websites that serve as podcast "directories." Similar to the yellow pages of a phone book, they list different categories of podcasts such as: scientific, educational, historic, arts, religion, and so on. In the "Religion" category, there are sub-categories for Christian, Hindu, Muslim, and so on. In the Christian sub-category, there are further categories such as: apologetics, bible study, youth ministries, and so on, plus categories for Pentecostal, Charismatic, and Word of Faith. How does a new podcast go about being listed in a podcast directory? There is an application process. You submit the information about your podcast to the directory. They examine the podcast, and if they think the podcast will have a good chance of appealing to a broad section of people, they will consider listing the podcast. However, they also usually wait awhile to see how many people subscribe to the podcast, and if the number of subscribers rise to a certain minimum level, the podcast directory then lists the podcast. Reaching their minimum level can be a challenge. Some podcasts take weeks or months to qualify to be listed. Some never are deemed important enough to be listed in some podcast directories. Remember, anyone can create a podcast--a teenage girl can podcast about what boys she thinks are cute, a gardener can podcast about crabgrass, or a podcast can offer weighty material, such as a ministry offering recordings and teaching materials. Podcast directories do not want to be clogged up with listings of thousands of podcasts to which no reasonable person would ever subscribe. You need to offer something interesting. Our podcast was deemed interesting enough that we were listed in several major podcast directories in only 3 or 4 days. We continue to be added to additonal directories nearly every day. Must a person download i-tunes or some service to receive a podcast? No. You just go to the podcast site, which with "Voices of the Faith Giants" is HERE. Then in the far right column, click on "Subscribe," and the rest is automatic. A copy of everything we upload to the podcast site will then automatically be sent to your computer through a "feed." What happens January 1st that is so exciting? Two things: First, in additon to offering the rare recordings and teachings through the website, we have decided to create an actual podcast program, that will be podcasted--or sent out--once a week. Each program will be 25 minutes in length, and will consist of Mel Montgomery interviewing Christian leaders and discussing with them the moving of the Spirit, revival and refreshing, spiritual gifts, miracles and healing, and so on. Additionally, each podcast will sometimes include a few mintues of formal teaching, but will mostly consist of Mel Montgomery and his guest discussing minister-to-minister, various aspects of ministering in the power of the Holy Spirit. Each podcast will be structured, but not stiff. One of the most interesting elements of each podcast will be that Brother Mel, and his guest, will follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, yielding to tongues, interpretation, and prophecy, whenever the Holy Spirit inspires such gifts, and will focus on demonstrating how to follow the Holy Spirit's leading. Second, the "Voices of the Faith Giants" program will be offered by podcast, and also through internet Christian radio stations. Lynne and Bill Breidenbach, Christian public relations experts and pastors of Faith Life Fellowship Church in Lakeland, Florida, have created a new Christian internet radio station that will begin broadcasting January 1st. Bill and Lynne have received our ministry newsletter for a long time. They understand our vision for a Charismatic Reformation, and the need to return to sound doctrine and ethical ministry practices. They have expressed an interest and agreed to broadcast our weekly program over their interent radio station. What gave Mel the idea for this kind of format? Years ago, my life and ministry were transformed by the times of fellowship and prayer I had with Sister Goodwin. I would visit with her in her home. She never preached me a sermon. Nor did she ever conduct a formal bible teaching with me. She just talked with me, one to one, in all seriousness and sincerity about the Holy Spirit, His gifts and operations, what she and her husband had experienced in their years of pastoral and prophetic ministry, and she warned me about areas of potential difficulty. During nearly every visit, as she would be talking, she would give a message in tongues and interpret it, or would yield to the Holy Spirit in some other manner. Thus I had the instruction about the Spirit, but I also saw and heard countless demonstrations of the Holy Spirit's gifts. Instruction and demonstration eventually led to impartation. We have plenty of radio and TV programs in which qualified (and some not so qualified) ministers teach and preach the word. But I know of no radio program that offers rare recordings, current teaching articles, and interviews with the host and guest yielding to the Spirit in spiritual operations. What will this new program offer? A clear understanding of what and how the Faith Giants ministered.
Instruction and examples of yielding to spiritual gifts.
Biblical alternatives to extreme teachings.
Mentoring and encouragement for ministers.
A Reformation call for returning to sound doctrine, balance, and integrity.

Voices of the Faith Giants List of Upcoming Guests Brother Mel is currently recording interviews with the following ministers, or will do so soon:
Rev. Elizabeth Pruitt-Sloan Rev. Elizabeth Pruitt-Sloan has agreed to be a recurring guest on our program. Elizabeth and I will be discussing the things of the Spirit, pastoring, ministering prophetically, signs, wonders, miracles, and so on. She will be speaking from her background of growing up in Aimee Semple-McPherson's church, learning from Brother Hagin, serving as a pastor, traveling around the world, and operating in healings and miracles. She is also the Founder and President of Helping Inspire Ministries (H.I.M.), and will be sharing H.I.M.'s vision of connecting with emerging ministers.
Dr. Charles Goodwin: Brother Charles is the son of Mom and Dad Goodwin, and has personally known many of the well-known prophets and healing evangelists of the last 50 years. He has a PhD in New Testament Greek, and has taught at the seminary level. He knows both the moving of the Spirit and sound doctrine. He takes complex theological concepts and makes them understandable to everyone. We will be making an objective examination of the strengths and weaknesses of the Charismatic and Word of Faith branch of Christianity.
Rev. Gil Howard-Browne Gil is a member of the well-known Browne ministry family. He is used in signs, wonders, revivals, and times of refreshing. I have found conversations with him to be a great blessing. In addition to discussing operations of the Holy Spirit, we will be discussing revivals and refreshings.
Rev. Joe Jordan: Joe Jordan served on staff with the Goodwins for years and has been in itinerant ministry for 50 years. He has held "Holy Ghost" conferences at Billye Brim's Prayer Mountain, and numerous other places. I have turned to Joe on a number of occasions with questions concerning ministry or spiritual operations, and his advice has been invaluable.
Rev. Roberts Liardon: Brother Roberts stepped into a world-wide ministry when he was only a teenager. He was mentored by Lester Sumrall and other remarkable men and women of God. Roberts created the "God's Generals" video series. Although he and I have not met in person, I have found the phone conversations we have had, and the insight he has shared with me, to be seasoned with wisdom. In addition to his usual preaching schedule, he is serving also as Bible School Director for the historic Kensington Temple in London. Additional Ministers will be guests on the podcast as our mutual schedules, and the Spirit of the Lord, make possible. |
| Question: Are you an emerging minister needing ordination and fellowship? Consider Joining: Helping Inspire Ministries (H.I.M.)
A floating axe head The symbol of God's ability to provide and sustain The Vision of H.I.M.: To connect with, mentor, and encourage all ministers, especially those that are just beginning their public ministry. Most ministry associations will accept you for ordination and membership only if you are in ministry full time. Other ministry associations are just ordination mills, cranking out ordinations to anyone and everyone, existing only to take your money and give you a meaningless piece of paper. Finding a ministry association that is the right fit for you, is challenging. Years ago, Mel was a member of a large Word of Faith ministry association. His name was in their directory, but they couldn't care less whether or not he actually succeeded in ministry. In 13 years of membership, Brother Mel never had a phone call returned by the ministry association's main office, and none of the regional directors ever contacted or made any effort to meet him. For 20 years Mel asked numerous ministers--some of them well-known and well-connected--if they knew of any non-denominational Charismatic ministry association he could join that would actually return phone calls. They all said they knew of no such organization that independant ministers could join. So how does a man or woman of God who is just beginning their public ministry, acquire legitimate ministry credentials and find fellowship in an organization that cares about them? |
One option is to join the orgainzation that Brother Mel is ordained through, which is Helping Inspire Ministries (H.I.M.) If you are looking for a spiritual home for your ministry, click on the link below to view the membership packet which details H.I.M.'s vision and includes our handbook, requirements for joining, policies, and membership application: H.I.M. Membership Packet If our vision appeals to you, you are welcome to print out the H.I.M. Membership Packet, fill out the application form, and you can be considered for membership in H.I.M. Membership is not automatic. But rest assured, we look for ways to draw ministers in, not for excuses to keep them out. You are also welcome to e-mail any questions to H.I.M.'s President Sister Elizabeth or Mel Montgomery at: Sister Elizabeth at: pruitt-sloan@att.net Mel Montgomery at: mail@brothermel.com. H.I.M. is experiencing great growth. Nearly every one of Sister Elizabeth's monthly Holy Spirit meetings doubles now as an ordination service in which we license, ordain, or receive new members. Currently the majority of H.I.M's members are located in the states of: Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Minnesota, Florida, New York, and others are scattered around the USA. H.I.M. is located in, and is primarily focused on, the United States. We are steadily expaning into other countries, but at this time we consider applications from outside the USA on a case by case basis. We welcome you to come and join our spiritual family! There was a virus, or crash of some sort, and some of Sister Elizabeth's e-mails were lost. If you have contacted Elizabeth, requesting a membership packet to join H.I.M., and more than a few days have passed without receiving anything, it is possible that your e-mail was among those that were lost. Please e-mail Elizabeth or Mel, and the packets will be sent to you asap. | New Recording: "Ministry and Ordination" Rev. Elizabeth Pruitt-Sloan Recording Length: 56 minutes Live Stream In this service, Sister Elizabeth taught on the ministry gifts, exhorting and explaining the function of some of the five-fold ministry offices. The service ends with the ordination of Rev. Jim Kolb into H.I.M. Pastor Lee Morgans, and Brother Mel join Sister Elizabeth in the prayer and laying on of hands portion of the service. | Equipment Request: A Reel to Reel Tape Player A rare recordings collector has sent to us eleven reel to reels which contain sermons by David Du Plessis, Bob Mumford, and several other speakers preaching a campmeeting in the early 1960's. These have never been copied or released to the public before this. We have run on to a difficulty in transferring the recordings from reel to reel to a hard drive and then to mp3. Namely, the reels appear to have been recorded at a slow speed of 1 7/8's and the player we are using runs at a speed of 3 3/4s. This causes the Du Plessis and Mumford to sound like chipmunks. If anyone out there has a reel to reel player that plays at this slow speed, please consider loaning or donating it to us. Contact Brother Mel at admin@brothermel.com. | Collinsville (Tulsa), Oklahoma: Elizabeth Pruitt-Sloan's Monthly Meetings "Tulsa's Best Kept Secret"
A "Secret" No More! Next Meeting: Date: Saturday Dec. 12, 2009 Time: 4:00 pm Where: A Glorious Church 915 N. 19th Collinsville, (Tulsa) OK 918-371-4589 Speaker(s): Rev. Elizabeth Pruitt-Sloan and others as the Spirit of God directs. "In attending Sister Elizabeth's monthly meetings, you have the opportunity to sit under the ministry of a woman of God with a remarkable anointing. Elizabeth attended Aimee Semple-McPherson's church as a child, ministered with Lydia Burke, Billye Brim and others. She learned also from Kenneth Hagin Sr. and Sister Goodwin. Half Word of Faith and half Pentecostal--so to speak--Rev. Elizabeth Pruitt-Sloan strikes the right balance between the teaching of faith and the moving of the Holy Spirit. I never miss attending her meetings if my schedule permits."--Brother Mel. | Please Remember to Pray: For our military and their families
To all of our men and women in the military, we at Mel Montgomery Ministries are proud of you. We're thankful for your service to our country, and to those of you that are in the British, Australian, NATO, and other armed forces around the world. We pray for you daily. | A Word From Brother Mel: Hello Friends and Ministry Partners, Today is Thanksgiving Day here in the United States. This is a traditional holiday in which we give thanks to God for seeing our Pilgrim ancestors through their first deadly winter, and causing our Christian forefathers and foremothers to have a bountiful harvest the following year. As you can see, in this newsletter I did not have the time to upload and make available to you any additional rare recordings. I regret this, but preparing the podcasts and working with H.I.M. consumes much of my time right now, and there are only so many hours in the day. We are seeing a dramatic increase in members joining H.I.M. Nearly every monthly Holy Spirit meeting has to also serve as an ordination service for new members. Praise the Lord. We had a moving ordination service for Rev. Jim Kolb at the last Holy Spirit meeting. The new recording link is in this newsletter. I hope that you will listen to it. I hope you can join us for the Holy Spirit meeting at 4 p.m. on December 12th. This will be a special meeting. The service will begin with praise and worship, but there won't be any preaching or teaching per se in the service. Instead, Elizabeth and I will record a live podcast, discussing the things of the Spirit, yielding to whatever God directs us to do. Afterwards, we will have a time of cake and refreshments to celebrate Elizabeth's 70th birthday. I look forward to seeing you there. I am tremendously excited about the new podcast and radio program. I believe that we will be offering some materials and ministry that no one else is doing in quite the same way. As you can imagine, with all of the traveling to and from Collinsville and the other costs associated with branching out into podcasting, our expenses increase, and we welcome all financial gifts of every size. Please consider stepping forward and sowing into this ministry this month. It is only through the donations of our ministry partners that we are able to offer to the world the rare recordings and everything else, for free. To those of you outside the USA, please give through pay pal or by credit card. We are not able to process checks from outside the USA in this small town. Although the list of subscribers to this e-mail newsletter has reached the point where I can no longer remember every person and every name, please know that every day I pray for all of my ministry partners, asking God to meet your needs, and praying that you may prosper and be in health even as your souls prosper. God bless you!
