Rev. Mel C. Montgomery | Hello and Welcome to my website! My name is Mel Montgomery, but everybody calls me Brother Mel. My Origins: Like probably many of you, I received Christ as my Savior through a Charismatic TV ministry years ago and then later began attending Charismatic and Word of Faith churches. What they taught sounded good at first. But with time I began to see the flaws. We did a great deal of talking about the power of God and the gifts of the Holy Spirit, but we had actually very little operating in our churches. I had left the dryness of the Evangelical churches, just to embrace a different kind of dryness in the Charismatic and Word of Faith churches. I began searching for a real and powerful move of God's Spirit. To learn more about my background please click HERE. In my searching, God allowed me to meet and learn from a genuine and balanced prophet of God. Her name was Sister Goodwin. She was an elderly widow when I met her. She and her husband, J.R. Goodwin had sat in the meetings of Smith Wigglesworth, and in 1938 they began teaching Kenneth Hagin Sr. about spiritual gifts. Brother Hagin patterned his prophetic ministry after the spiritual flow he saw in the Goodwins. Hagin wrote of Brother and Sister Goodwin--as they were affectionately known--"The Goodwins had the most Spirit-filled and the most decent and orderly church I've ever seen in my life." Mom and Dad Goodwin impacted many lives. For instance, John Osteen was filled with the Spirit in the Goodwins' living room and preached his first Charismatic sermons from their pulpit. As I sat under Sister Goodwin's instruction, and witnessed the Holy Spirit flow through her in tongues, interpretation, prophecy, and other gifts countless times, I found a depth and intensity of the Spirit of God that I had encountered nowhere else. In 1989, Sister Goodwin laid her hands on me, and afterward, God began using me similarly in spiritual gifts and operations. Approximately 20 years have passed in whch God has allowed me to be used in the prophet's ministry. The type of prophetic ministry I witnessed in Sister Goodwin, and that now flows through me, bears no resemblance to the extreme and ridiculous prophetic teachings that are common today. The Prophecy: Sister Goodwin prophesied to me years ago telling me, ". . . You will have a strong ministry, an anointed ministry, like some of the men of old. This will happen for your, Mel . . . Now what 'men of old' means, I don't know, but you will know when it happens." This word did indeed come to pass years after Sister Goodwin's Homegoing. In 2006, people began sending me rare early Pentecostal recordings from around the world, which I began uploading to my website and making them available to the world by download for free. As I listened to the recordings of these "men of old" as Sister Goodwin had referred to them, I was stunned to find that most of what they preached bore no resemblance to what we Charismatics and Word of Faith ministers preach today. Gone are the endless appeals for money, and so many other things we commonly preach. I began to wonder, are we really so far advanced in our knowledge than they were, or have we lost sight of important truths. As I continued to study these old recordings, and to take note of the ways God uses me in prophetic ministry, I concluded that we have lost our way to a great extent in Charismatic and Word of Faith circles. My Current Ministry of Reformation: I am a Reformer. I am a Word of Faith minister. But I believe the Word of Faith move and the Charismatic branch of Christianity have slowly become saturated with error, pride, and greed to the point where many of our ministers and churches have become a gigantic, unbiblical, embarrassing, circus. I think we need to judge ourselves, reject the errors, and return to preaching the Bible. I present to you four resources that you can make use of in discerning between what is real and what is not, and to grow deeper in the things of the Holy Spirit in a balanced manner: 1. Rare early Pentecostal recordings by F.F. Bosworth, Howard Carter, Stanley Frodsham, David Du Plessis, the Goodwins--from whom I learned, and other seasoned, balanced speakers whose ministries stood the test of time. 2. Free teaching articles in which I teach on spiritual gifts and prophetic ministry as I learned them from the Goodwins and as I have experienced them myself for the last 20 years of ministry. 3. Corrective articles in which I bluntly confront the extreme teachigns that have taken over our Charismatic and Word of Faith branch of Christianity. 4. Meetings in local churches in which I teach and yield to the moving of the Holy Spirit.
The Response So Far: From January 1, 2007 to June 1, 2009--30 months--we received 1,174,048 hits from believers in 121 Countries and territories, as they have downloaded these recordings and my teachings. | Want to Network with Other Ministers? | A Ministry Association: Helping Inspire Ministries (H.I.M) The most common question ministers ask me in e-mails is: "Brother Mel, do you know a ministry association I can join that actually cares about me, is sound in their teachings, has integrity, and is passionate for the things of God?" My answer is: "Yes. That organization is H.I.M." After being a member of a major international Word of Faith ministry association for 14 years, and never having a phone call returned, I allowed my ordination papers to lapse through that organization and joined Elizabeth Sloan's H.I.M. (Helping Inspire Ministries). I've been a member for two years, and I have found my spiritual home. And you know what? When I have a question or am facing a challenge in ministry, in H.I.M I can actually get a phone call returned. Any time I've contacted Elizabeth, I've always gotten a helpful response, and wise advice. Whenever I've visited Elizabeth's Holy Ghost meetings, she and her husband Roger have always reached out to me and made me feel like part of their spiritual family.

Revival Report | Revival Report:  I have visited the revival services at World Revival Church in Kansas City, MO pastored by Rev. Steve and Kathy Gray. After finding it necessary to give the Body of Christ stern warnings about the Lakeland Revival and similar pseudo-moves of God, it is both refreshing and a great relief to be to be able to give you a positive report concerning the revival services at World Revival Church in Kansas City, MO. The Revival at World Revival church in Kansas City appears to me to be a genuine move of the Spirit of God. Brother Steve and Sister Kathy are presenting a Christ-centered, confrontational Gospel that is needed in this hour, and is what should have been preached all along. I encourage you to visit the Revival services.
