January 29 Title: "H.I.M.: I Heard a Sound From Heaven" Guest: Rev. Elizabeth Pruitt-Sloan Subject: In this recording, Sister Elizabeth discusses with Brother Mel how the idea came to her to found Helping Inspire Ministers (H.I.M.). As she describes it, she “heard a sound from Heaven,” inspiring her to found a ministry credentialing and fellowship association. Her organization has grown over the years, and has experienced increased growth in recent years. She shares ministry lessons she learned from Brother Hagin which guide her now in knowing which applicants to ordain, license, or to receive as members. Sister Elizabeth also discusses in passing, people who have a “religious spirit,” and how such people can grieve the Holy Spirit in a service. Mel relates an account of witnessing Sister Elizabeth stop one of her Holy Spirit services when people started to pull it off in the wrong direction. Mel also discusses the unique qualities he has noticed about Sister Elizabeth’s Holy Spirit meetings, and the help he has found in being a member of H.I.M.
January 22 Title: "My Life: From Kenneth Hagin to Now" Guest: Rev. Elizabeth Pruitt-Sloan Subject: Sister Elizabeth discusses moves of God of the 1950s and 1960s in which she participated. She and Mel note the similarities between Aimee Semple McPherson’s Bible School and Rhema. They also bring out consistent characteristics that they see between Stanley Frodsham, David Du Plessis, Howard Carter, Kenneth Hagin and the Goodwins. Mel makes the point that one of the characteristics of genuine spiritual ministry is the desire to allow more seasoned ministers to speak into your life. They also touch on the vital role of the pastor in keeping individual ministers, and the local church as a whole, on track. Mel gives an example of situations a prophet might not discern, but that a pastor would see through in a minute. In the course of the discussion, the Holy Spirit also inspires a message in tongues and interpretation.
January 15 Title: "My Life: From Aimee Semple McPherson to Kenneth Hagin Guest: Rev. Elizabeth Pruitt-Sloan Subject: In this podcast, Rev. Elizabeth Pruitt-Sloan tells of her childhood in Aimee Semple McPherson’s church, and being prophesied over by Sister Aimee. Elizabeth also relates the account of being healed as a child in one of Jack Coe’s tent meetings, and observing a man being healed of cancer of the tongue. She tells of the revivals she has witnessed, and discusses her life up 1956 in which she saw Kenneth Hagin minister for the first time. Podcast Length: approximately 30 minutes.
January 8 Title: "Behold, I Make All Things New!" Guest: Rev. Gil Howard Browne Subject: Revelation21:5 reads, “And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new . . .” Mel and Gil speak with great frankness about their own lives and ministries, and how God took them at their lowest point in ministry, back unto Himself, gave them a new joy, and how you can be revived also. They discuss how certain ministry claims, ego, the showmanship have worn very thin in Charismatic circles. They tell how to minister to people in the greatest power possible. The podcast ends with Gil praying for those who listen to this podcast to find refreshing in God.
