Recording Description: This is a beautiful and encouraging message for anyone going through difficulties or anyone who has a dream and destiny in life. It is also a classic example of old time Pentecostal-type of services, that lit the fire of the Holy Ghost in the hearts of generations gone past. The recording begins at the tail end of the praise and worship portion of the service, as everyone is singing "To Win That Soul For Thee," with Sister Goodwin exhorting people to love the unlovely, and to commit themselves fully to God. She gives a message in tongues, and Brother Goodwin interprets. Roy Davis (Don Davis' father) gives another message in tongues, interpreted also by Brother Goodwin. Then Brother Goodwin asks the Vaughn family to sing the old gospel song, "You've Got to Reach Through Thorns to Touch a Rose." Brother Goodwin then preaches a message, drawing from an incident in the Bible concerning someone God promoted, and the things the man went through along the road to that promotion. Although this message was preached in 1964, it is as timely as though it were preached yesterday, and provides many profound truths to all who will hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church. Caught up in the inspiration of the moment, Brother Goodwin sings the old Gospel song, "Job's God." He then closes the message with a stirring exhortation to obedience, to holiness, and to resisting the Devil. An altar call is given with the song playing "Are You Ready for the Judgment Day?" And rejoicing with the song, "With the Holy Ghost and Power," and "Lord, Keep Your Mighty Hand on Me." |
